星のそばに横たわる盲目なる無面の混沌としても知られる、アザトースと呼ばれる存在について知られていることはほとんどない。それは“闇の綴れ織the Dark Tapestry”に住まうと言われる恐ろしく強大だが謎めいた存在の一団に属しており、古代においてはガルーンド帝国のショーリィ人the Shoryの中の小集団によって崇拝された［1］。
“運命の時代the Age of Destiny”初頭の間に起きた“浮遊するショーリィ人の都市”ウルドゥヴァイUlduvaiの破壊に、アザトースは間接的に関わっている。アザトースの狂信者が発見されたばかりの“ショゴス・ストーンthe shoggoth stone”として知られるアーティファクトの神秘を解放する助力を願うために、（アザトースと）コンタクトをとった。起動したのち、“ショゴス・ストーン”は都市のほぼすべてを、うねり腐敗する臓物の山に変えてしまった［2］。
アザトースの崇拝者は（幸いなことに）現在の人間野間に広まらようにしているようだ。しかしチョーカーやネオセリッドの共同体には、それを崇拝する者もいると伝えられている［3］［4］。この神の唯一知られている神殿は、南ガルーンドの“砕けた地Shattered Range”にある破壊された都市ウルドゥヴァイの廃墟にあると言われている［5］。

Little is known of the being called Azathoth, also known as the blind formless chaos that lies behind the stars. It belongs to a group of immensely powerful, yet inscrutable beings said to inhabit the Dark Tapestry, and was worshiped in ancient times by small groups in the Shory empire of Garund.［1］
◎History
Azathoth is indirectly linked to the destruction of the flying Shory city of Ulduvai during the early years of the Age of Destiny. Cultists of Azathoth were contacted to help unlock the mysteries of a recently discovered artifact known as the shoggoth stone. Upon activation, the shoggoth stone transformed nearly the entire city into heaps of undulating, rotting viscera.［2］

The worship of Azathoth seems to（thankfully） be undocumented among humans in modern times, although it has been reported that some cloaker and neothelid communities worship it.［3］［4］ The only known temple to the power is said to be in the ruins of the broken city of Ulduvai in southern Garund's Shattered Range.［5］
